Meet and Greet

Rosemary

Steve

When you arrive at Brisbane Airport you will be met by Steve, Rosemary or Liz.  We ask that, if possible, you arrive in Brisbane on a Thursday morning so that you can change your e-visa into a paper one before going to Rainbow Beach.    It often takes as long as two hours to get through Customs and Immigration.

On your arrival Steve, Rosemary or Liz will take you to the Yellow Submarine hostel in Brisbane and give you a map of how to reach the Department of Immigration offices for the Visa change.   You will have no trouble in locating Steven, Rosemary or Liz -  the person holding a large Visitoz board with your name on it outside customs.  In case you do not meet up immediately The Visitoz office's number is 07 4168 6185, Steve's is 0416 810 906 and Rosemary's is 0431 161 255.  Liz is the 'first reserve' and her number is 0414 926 755. Steve is at University, so he is usually doing the Greeting in December to February and in July - Rosemary does much of the other.

Steven, Rosemary or Liz will give you a bus ticket to Rainbow Beach for Friday morning and you will need to catch the 10.00am bus.  There will be a free courtesy bus from the hostel to the Transit Centre.

If you arrive in on any other day of the week you will need to spend a few days in Brisbane at your own expense before catching the Friday bus to Rainbow Beach.   It is recommended that you take the full weekend to unwind then you are ready for what follows when you arrive at Visitoz.    Please endeavour to arrive at a sensible time of the day - you will be met!

Your bus ticket to Rainbow Beach might be a group one and it will also have a sector from Rainbow Beach back to Gympie on Monday morning, leaving at 10am from outside the Fraser's on Rainbow Hostel.  This bus will be met by a small bus from Pursers Coaches or a car (depending on numbers) and this will bring you to Goomeri.  Here you will have lunch with us at The Grape and The Olive Restaurant before doing paperwork and shopping and going to your training farm for the rest of the week.

Long Weekend at Frasers on Rainbow Beach

Frasers on Rainbow Beach has everything you need for a seaside weekend as well as comfort and a very friendly atmosphere.  The staff will look after you well and suggest plenty of things to do if you need an active few days.  Rainbow Beach is the ideal stopping off point for Fraser Island and 4 WD tours can be arranged and leave the hostel daily.  Other attractions are the surfing, sailing, diving and body boarding - or just lying on the beach or by the hostel pool.  There is a bar and good kitchen and a computer room, pool table, dining room, TV room and excellent facilities whether you are a backpacker wanting dormitory accomodation or a couple wanting motel type facilities.   Other things to do are kayaking with the dolphins, canoeing, cycling, riding on the beach or just walking in the rainforest and enjoying the beaches and multi-coloured sands.
