The founders of the training farm Visitoz, Dan & Joanna Burnet
Dan and Joanna Burnet came to Australia from the West Coast of Scotland in 1991 where they had been running a busy Host Farm on the shores of Loch Awe in Argyll.
Prior to that Dan had had a full career as a British Army Officer and has served in Cyprus, Kenya, Kuwait, the USA, Germany and Sweden as well as many times in the UK. Joanna worked in sport, travel and tourism in various parts of Europe.
They founded Visitoz in late 1991 and young people came from all over the world to take part in the training activities for work on Outback cattle stations and farms.
Dan and Joanna became Australian citizens in 1994 and Justices of the Peace (JP) two years later.
In March 2013 Dan died following an accidental fall when travelling overseas.
In September 2014 William, the third of four sons came to work with Joanna full time in the business.
The family includes four sons, two of whom live and work in the UK with their families.
Of the two others, William lives in nearby Gympie, and Edward, who also works in the business part time lives in Brisbane.
